Wheel Throwing I (Beginner) - Section A

Location: ARTica Ceramic Studio
Students will be introduced to the basic principles of constructing functional vessels using the wheel and understanding the tactile nature of clay as an art medium. This course will teach students the process of wheel throwing through learning how to wedge clay, how to construct cylinders on the wheel, and using colorants through glazing techniques. The kinesthetic process of pottery will be explored through developing technical skills on the wheel as well as understanding the function of various forms developed throughout the history of ceramics. Learn how to make functional work that you can use at home as foodware for yourself, friends, or family.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy
1 session courses are nonrefundable.
Withdrawal deadline: 2 business days before the start of your registered course
The Mini Courses Program does not issue full or partial refunds for lack of attendance or indifference to the course curriculum. Refunds may be requested for most Mini Courses through the purchase of a $15.00 Mini Course Cancellation Fee on the http://nbo.northwestern.edu website two business days before the start of the first meeting of the class, for each intended withdrawal. No other cancellation fee purchased on this website will be accepted to withdraw from a Mini Course. Full refunds will be given for classes canceled by Mini Courses due to a lack of enrollment.
NO REFUNDS will be provided if a withdrawal is requested after two business days prior to when the first session meets.
Refunds are NOT possible after January 6, 2022.
How will safety guidelines be followed?
All classes taking place in person will be following social distancing and mask wearing guidelines. In-person classes that take place indoors will have a strict student limit so as not to overcrowd a classroom.
Vaccination and Masking Policy
All Northwestern members must follow Northwestern’s vaccination’s requirements.
Community members will need to provide proof of vaccination if attending an in-person class. All in-person students must follow Northwestern's face coverings and masking policy.
